Tough Loss for the Rockies
Our Rockies kicked off the game looking strong, but it was a rollercoaster from the start. In the bottom of the 1st inning, we had runners in scoring position thanks to singles by Brendan Rodgers and Brenton Doyle, but we just couldn't bring them home.
Second Inning Fireworks
Sam Hilliard lit up the scoreboards with a three-run bomb to right field (403 feet), bringing home Michael Toglia and Hunter Goodman. Our boys were off to a powerful 3-0 lead.
Defensive Struggles in the 3rd Inning
The Braves responded fiercely in the top of the 3rd, scoring five runs and putting us in a 5-3 hole. It didn't help that Matt Olson crushed a grand slam, making the game tense early on.
Fighting Back
In the bottom of the 3rd, Sam Hilliard continued his hot streak with a double that brought home Elias Díaz and Michael Toglia. We tied it up at 5-5, giving us hope for a comeback.
Braves Take the Lead Again
The Braves just wouldn't quit. Marcell Ozuna homered in the 5th, and once again, Matt Olson added to their lead with another monster home run, bringing the score to 8-5. We kept it close, though, with Ezequiel Tovar's clutch double and Brenton Doyle's single to tie it up at 8-8.
Falling Short in the 7th and 8th Innings
Two homers later and the Braves took a solid 11-8 lead by the end of the 8th. Despite valiant efforts, our batters struggled to connect in the final innings, striking out frequently.
Disappointing Finish
Unfortunately, we couldn't make up the deficit in the 9th inning. The Braves brought in their closer, and we failed to get any momentum going. Ryan McMahon, Kris Bryant, and Elias Díaz all tried, but it ended with the score at 11-8. A tough loss, but we'll be back stronger!
