A Promising Start
It started off beautifully for our Brewers! In the bottom of the 1st inning, Jackson Chourio singled to left, followed by Rhys Hoskins also singling to left, moving Chourio to second. Gary Sánchez continued the momentum with an RBI single, bringing Chourio home and advancing Hoskins to third. After Willy Adames struck out, Joey Ortiz walked, loading the bases. Blake Perkins then hit a sacrifice fly to right, allowing Hoskins to score. We were up 2-0 early on!
Trouble in the 4th Inning
The Braves answered back in the top of the 4th. Matt Olson launched a homer to left center, followed shortly after by Travis d'Arnaud homering to left. Just like that, the game was tied at 2-2. You could feel the tension in the stadium rising as these runs came in back-to-back.
Missed Opportunities
We had our chances to respond. In the bottom of the 6th, Blake Perkins doubled to left and Sal Frelick walked, putting some pressure on the Braves. William Contreras walked to load the bases, but unfortunately, Andruw Monasterio struck out swinging to end the inning. We had the runners, but just couldn't convert.
Costly Errors and Relentless Braves
Errors started to haunt us in the 7th inning. Joey Ortiz committed a fielding error, allowing Orlando Arcia to get on base. The Braves capitalized with Austin Riley's single, scoring two more runs. In the top of the 8th, Olson and d'Arnaud each hit their second homers of the game, extending the Braves' lead to 6-2. These back-to-back homers were a heavy blow to our comeback hopes.
Final Attempt
In the bottom of the 9th, Brice Turang flied out, Jackson Chourio struck out, and Jake Bauers—pinch hitting for Hoskins—struck out swinging. That sealed our fate and ended the game with a final score of 6-2 in favor of the Braves.Despite a strong start and some promising moments, we just couldn't keep the momentum going. Onward to the next game, Brewers fans! Let's keep the faith and support our team through thick and thin!
