Tough Loss in Boston
Well, Birds fans, this one was a rough outing. We started strong, but the Red Sox overpowered us, resulting in a tough 3-12 loss.Early Hopes
The Orioles kicked off the game on a positive note. Gunnar Henderson got the momentum going with a solid double to center. After Cedric Mullins lined out, Anthony Santander brought some energy with an RBI single, sending Henderson home and putting us on the board first!
After loading the bases, unfortunately, Eloy Jimenez and Colton Cowser struck out, leaving us with just one run.Red Sox Rebound
The Red Sox answered back quickly. Rafael Devers singled, Rob Refsnyder doubled, and with some aggressive base running, they tied it up at 1-1 by the end of their first inning.The bottom of the 3rd inning was especially tough as Refsnyder and Tyler O'Neill both homered, subsequently bringing in more runs. After a quick flurry of hits and a couple of homers, Boston pulled ahead 4-1, making it clear this was going to be an uphill battle.
Mid-Game Challenges
We tried to rally in the 4th inning when Cowser walked and got advanced by some clever play, but it concluded with only one run making the score 4-2.The Red Sox kept their batting mojo alive in the bottom of the 6th, picking up another four runs, extending their lead to 8-2. It felt like every time we started to gain ground, they were ready with an answer.
Late-Inning Woes
Santander gave us a spark of hope in the 7th with a 407-feet homer, cutting the deficit to 8-3.
But Boston quickly extinguished our hopes in their half of the 7th and 8th innings, where they added four more runs, solidifying their lead at 12-3. Despite our efforts to fight back, including seeing players like Jackson Holliday making it to the plate, we couldn't muster any more runs.
End of the Road
The game concluded with a heartbreak as Rutschman struck out swinging in the 9th inning, finalizing the score at 3-12.It was a tough day for our O's, but let's keep our heads high. There's always another game to turn things around. We'll be back stronger and better!
