Tough Loss for the Tigers at Comerica Park

Hey Tigers fans, it was a tough outing today against the Orioles, with the final score ending at 4-2 in favor of Baltimore. Despite a late rally attempt, we couldn't quite catch up. Let’s break down the game. ⚾

Pitching Highlights and Defensive Struggles

The game started scoreless through the first two innings. Our pitching did well to keep things in check initially. Props to Madden who relieved Brieske and showed some solid pitching. However, in the 3rd inning, Baltimore’s Gunnar Henderson doubled to right and was eventually brought home by Cedric Mullins. The 5th inning was when things started to unravel a bit. Mullins, again a thorn in our side, scored Henderson, putting us behind.

Batting Woes Continue

Unfortunately, our hitters had a tough time against Baltimore’s pitching. Parker Meadows, Riley Greene, and Spencer Torkelson couldn’t generate enough momentum early on. We did, however, see some sparks here and there. Colt Keith had a couple of singles to his name and Torkelson managed to bring in a run during a late rally in the 9th.

Late Rally Not Enough

In the bottom of the 9th, Meadows gave us a glimmer of hope with a magnificent homer to right center, traveling 405 feet! That brought the score to 4-1. Keith followed with a single, and Torkelson brought him home making it 4-2. But Zach McKinstry, pinch-hitting for Andy Ibáñez, grounded out to close the game. It's a loss but seeing the team fight until the end gives us something to look forward to. 💪

Moving Forward

Though it wasn't the result we wanted, there were still some positive takeaways. Keith was solid at the plate, and our bullpen did a respectable job. We'll regroup and come back stronger in the next game.

Stay optimistic, Tigers fans! The season is long and we have plenty more opportunities to roar. 🐯
