Tough Loss for the Royals Against the Cubs
It was a heartbreaker for us Royals fans tonight as we faced off against the Cubs. Despite a strong start, we couldn't hold on and lost 7-3. Let's break down the game and where things went wrong.Strong Start Gave Us Hope
The game began with high hopes as Michael Massey and Bobby Witt Jr. got on base in the bottom of the 1st inning. A clutch single from Hunter Renfroe brought them both home, giving us an early 2-0 lead. It felt great to strike first and put the pressure on the Cubs early on!
3rd Inning Stumble
Unfortunately, the 3rd inning saw the Cubs bounce back. Nico Hoerner doubled to bring in two runs, tying the game at 2-2. It was a tough pill to swallow after such a promising start, but our boys kept fighting. The top of the 4th saw Freddy Fermin hit a solo homer to give us a 3-2 lead again.
Cubs Rally in the 6th
Things took a turn for the worse in the 6th inning. The Cubs managed to score two runs, taking a 4-3 lead. Despite a pitching change to Schreiber, the damage was done. David Bote and Pete Crow-Armstrong played key roles in flipping the game in the Cubs' favor.Missed Opportunities
We had chances to come back, like in the bottom of the 7th when Kyle Isbel got on base and advanced to third, but we just couldn't capitalize.

The final nail in the coffin came in the top of the 9th when Patrick Wisdom hit a solo homer, followed by additional RBIs that pushed the Cubs' lead to 7-3. Our boys couldn't muster a comeback in the bottom of the 9th, going down in order.Final Thoughts
