Tough Loss in Milwaukee 🥺

Well, fellow Cubs fans, it was a tough one to swallow tonight as we took on the Brewers in Milwaukee. Despite a promising start, we couldn't keep the momentum going and ultimately fell 4-2. Let's break down the key moments in the game.

Promising Start ⚾️

The game got off to a solid start with Nico Hoerner getting hit by a pitch followed by Michael Busch drawing a walk, putting two on base with nobody out. Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize, with Cody Bellinger hitting into a double play and Seiya Suzuki striking out to end the inning.

Suzuki’s Homer 💥

In the top of the 4th, Seiya Suzuki gave us a spark by smashing a 401-foot homer to left, giving us a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Ian Happ doubled to center, and Christopher Morel was hit by a pitch. Dansby Swanson then singled to left, scoring Happ and putting us up 2-0. We were riding high!

Brewers Strike Back 😩

The bottom of the 4th is where things went south. Jackson Chourio homered to left, driving in Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick, and Rhys Hoskins. This three-run shot flipped the game on its head, putting the Brewers up 4-2. That would be all they needed.

Missed Opportunities 😬

We had our chances, but couldn't quite get the job done. In the 6th, Bellinger got on base due to an error, but a double play ended the threat. There was a glimmer of hope in the 7th as we loaded the bases, but Patrick Wisdom flied out to center, extinguishing our rally.

Bats Fall Silent 🥶

The final innings saw our hitters go cold. The 8th and 9th innings went by quickly without any offensive spark. Strikeouts plagued us, and we couldn't muster one last comeback.

Final Thoughts 💭

Despite the loss, there were some bright spots. Seiya Suzuki's homer was a highlight, and Dansby Swanson delivered when needed. However, we need to capitalize on our opportunities and sharpen up defensively. There’s still a lot of baseball left, so let's keep our heads up and come back stronger! 💙

Go Cubs! 🐻⚾
