We kicked things off in style with Luis Robert Jr. singling to left in the top of the first, followed by Gavin Sheets drawing a walk. Andrew Vaughn delivered a clutch single to left, bringing Robert Jr. home to give us an early 1-0 lead.
Guardians Level It, But We Strike Back Hard
The Guardians managed to level the score in the bottom of the 3rd with a sacrifice fly by Fry, but our boys had other plans. In the top of the 4th, Lenyn Sosa doubled to right, setting up Nicky Lopez for an RBI double. Martin Maldonado then singled to bring Lopez home. To cap off the inning, Andrew Benintendi blasted a double to center, scoring both Maldonado and Tommy Pham, making it 5-1 White Sox!
Sosa and Maldonado Keep the Momentum
In the top of the 7th, Luis Robert Jr. doubled to right and came home thanks to a clutch single by Lenyn Sosa, extending our lead to 6-1. The hot streak continued in the 8th inning as Danny Mendick walked and Martin Maldonado smashed a homer to left, driving Mendick home for an 8-2 lead.
Closing It Out With Confidence
Our pitching staff was rock solid throughout the game. The Guardians had a glimmer of hope with Brayan Rocchio's solo homer in the 7th, but it was not enough. Stellar defense and disciplined pitching kept Cleveland at bay. Gregory Santos made sure to shut it down in the 9th, sealing the deal for a final score of 8-2.
