A Tough One-Run Loss

Hey Reds fans, we had a nail-biter today against the Cubs, but unfortunately, we came up just short with a final score of 0-1 😢.

Early Inning Recap

It was a slow start for both teams offensively. The top of the 1st looked promising when Elly De La Cruz smashed a double to center, but he was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple. That set the tone for a game that was more about defensive plays than offensive fireworks.

Our defense held strong too, with our boys retiring the Cubs in order in the bottom of the 1st. Jonathan India had a nice single in the 3rd, but again, we couldn't convert it into a run.

Mid-Game Action

In the 5th inning, things took a turn. Nico Hoerner of the Cubs led off with a double and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Miguel Amaya. That was the only run scored in the game, but it proved to be enough for the Cubs.

We had a few moments where it seemed like we might rally. In the 6th inning, Jonathan India again got on base with a single, but Tyler Stephenson grounded into a double play to end the inning. The 8th inning saw India get hit by a pitch, but De La Cruz struck out looking, leaving us unable to capitalize.

Final Attempts

Heading into the 9th, we still had a chance to turn things around. But Stephenson flied out, Spencer Steer struck out swinging, and TJ Friedl grounded out to second, ending our hopes for a comeback 😔.

Despite the loss, let's remember the solid defensive play and pitching that kept us in the game. We'll get 'em next time, Reds fans! Keep the faith and let's look forward to the next game! 🚩🔴⚾
