Reds Struggle to Find Offense in Loss to Cubs
Hey Reds fans, what a tough one to watch today as our Cincinnati Reds fell to the Chicago Cubs 3-0 in a game where our bats just couldn't get going. Let's break down the action inning by inning.Early Innings: Lots of Ground Outs
The first couple of innings saw us struggling to make any significant plays. In the top of the 1st inning, Jonathan India grounded out to third, followed by Elly De La Cruz striking out swinging. Tyler Stephenson thought he had something going with a single to center, but Spencer Steer grounded out to the pitcher, leaving us scoreless.On the defensive side, Elly De La Cruz had a bit of a hiccup in the 2nd inning with a fielding error, although Nico Hoerner was eventually caught stealing second base by Tyler Stephenson. No harm, no foul, right?
Middle Innings: A Pitcher's Duel
The third through sixth innings were a classic pitchers' duel; our boys made contact but couldn't drop them in for hits. Friedl, France, and Fraley all grounded or flied out consecutively, making it tough to string anything together.Our pitchers also held strong. Kudos to Santillan and Lowder for keeping the Cubs at bay and getting us to the bottom of the 7th inning still tied at zero!

The 8th inning is where it all fell apart. After a single and a steal, the Cubs loaded the bases, which led to I. Paredes singling to center and scoring Swanson. We tried to mount a late-inning comeback, but the Cubs brought in Hodge, who made quick work of us. De La Cruz grounded out, Stephenson struck out looking, and Steer grounded out to cap off a disappointing 9th inning.It's tough to lose like this, especially when our pitching put in such a solid effort.
