Tough Day for the Twins

Well, Twins fans, today was a rough one. Despite a promising start with Matt Wallner scoring in the first inning, our boys couldn't hold off the Cincinnati Reds, who took the game with an 11-1 final score. 😞

A Decent Start

Edouard Julien grounded out to start the game, but Matt Wallner got us excited when he was hit by a pitch and made it to third thanks to a double by Royce Lewis. Byron Buxton came through with an infield single that got Wallner across home plate. The first inning ended with us up 1-0.

The Reds’ Offense Erupts

The nightmare began in the top of the 4th when the Reds scored a whopping 8 runs. Their momentum was unstoppable, with hits and homers pouring in from Noelvi Marte, Jonathan India, and TJ Friedl. Even after Simeon Woods Richardson was relieved by Louie Varland, the damage was already done. By the end of the inning, we were trailing 9-1. 😬

Struggles Continue for Our Lineup

From then on, our batters struggled to gain any traction. Trevor Larnach, Jose Miranda, and Christian Vázquez all had tough at-bats, unable to get on base or move runners along. The Reds' pitching was solid, stymying our efforts to get back into the game.

Reds Add More Insurance Runs

In the 5th inning, Jake Fraley hit a solo homer to extend their lead to 10-1. The top of the 8th saw Will Benson single to right, bringing home Jonathan India and making the score 11-1.

Final Push Falls Short

By the time we entered the 9th, we were running out of options and energy. Ryan Jeffers and Manuel Margot couldn't find a way to salvage anything, igniting only a flurry of pop flies and lineouts.

We fought hard, but the Reds were just too strong today. We'll need to regroup and strategize before our next game. Keep your heads up, Twins fans! We'll get them next time! 💪

Go Twins!
