First Inning Sizzle: Strikeouts Galore
Wow, what a start to the game! It looks like both teams came out swinging - and missing! Our ace pitcher made quick work of the Rockies with three strikeouts in the top of the 1st inning. But the Rockies' pitcher matched us, striking out Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo, and J.D. Martinez. A true pitcher’s duel to kick things off!
️Second Inning Explosion: Mets Take Command
The second inning was a game-changer! Pete Alonso started things off with a single, and DJ Stewart followed with a walk. Then the Rockies' defense started slipping. An error by the second baseman allowed us to drive in two runs, and Jeff McNeil showed his clutch gene with a double to center that brought in two more. We conducted a base-stealing clinic, and poof, just like that, we were up 4-0!
Rockies Answer Back: Tightening the Game
Kudos to the Rockies for not backing down. In the 3rd inning, Jake Cave homered to left, getting them on the scoreboard. They inched closer in the 5th when Charlie Blackmon hit a two-run homer, but our relief pitcher stopped the bleeding. Still, it made things nervy with us leading 4-3.Defense Holds: Relief Squad Shines
From the 6th inning onwards, our pitching staff, especially Bryce Montes de Oca and Sam Núñez, managed to keep the Rockies at bay. Striking out three Rockies in the 6th inning was a clear message: no more runs for you!
8th Inning Heroics: Lindor’s Magic Moment
The 8th inning was pure magic! With two men on base, Francisco Lindor launched a homer to dead center, driving in three runs and giving us a comfortable cushion at 7-3! Brandon Nimmo also singled, keeping our momentum going. It was fantastic to see the crowd erupt in cheers!
Closing the Deal: Mets Dominate the 9th
The Rockies had no answers in the 9th. Jose Iglesias came in at third base and our closer did not disappoint, striking out the side to seal the victory. What a game! The Mets pull out a 7-3 win, showing resilience and a knack for taking advantage of opportunities. On to the next one, let's go Mets!
