Tough Loss for the Rockies
Another nail-biter slipped through our fingers as the Giants edged out our Rockies 5-4. While it was a competitive game, we just couldn't quite get over the hump. Let's break it down inning-by-inning.Early Innings Struggles
The top of the first inning wasn't kind to us as Ezequiel Tovar, Charlie Blackmon, and Brenton Doyle went down in order, unable to get something going. The Giants, however, got on the board early with a homer by Casey Schmitt, putting us behind 1-0. Our offense continued to struggle in the 2nd and 3rd innings, with players like Michael Toglia, Jake Cave, and Sam Hilliard all striking out.Mid-Game Rally
Finally, a spark! In the fourth inning, Tovar doubled to right, and Blackmon drove him home with a single, putting us on the scoreboard, 3-1. In the 6th inning, Hunter Goodman singled to right, driving Tovar home, narrowing the gap to 3-2. But, defensive missteps cost us as a throwing error by Ryan McMahon allowed the Giants to extend their lead to 5-2.Late Inning Tension
Toglia gave us hope with a solo homer in the 7th inning, making it 5-3. And in the 9th inning, Toglia and Cave started a small rally with singles. Jacob Stallings grounded out but brought Toglia home, bringing us within one run, 5-4. Unfortunately, Hilliard struck out, and Tovar couldn't complete the comeback as he grounded out to end the game.Still proud of the fight our team showed today! We'll come back stronger!
Rockies Forever!
