Brutal Outing for the Rockies

Hey Rockies fans, 😞 it was a tough game against the Kansas City Royals, ending in a 10-1 loss. Let's break down what happened.

Early Struggles

The first inning showed some promise as both teams struggled to get on base, with three quick outs from both sides. Charlie Blackmon and Ezequiel Tovar struck out swinging, and Ryan McMahon grounded out to the pitcher, leaving us scoreless.

The Royals Take Control

Everything changed in the top of the 2nd inning. Salvador Perez, Michael Massey, and Freddy Fermin each got on base, with Fermin driving in Perez to score the game's first run. Maikel Garcia then hit a 382-foot homer, bringing the score to 4-0. Our hitters couldn't answer back, continuing to struggle against Royals pitching.

Rockies Can't Catch a Break

Despite a few moments of hope—like Ryan McMahon and Jake Cave with solid singles and Michael Toglia earning walks—we couldn't string hits together to score. Double plays and strikeouts extinguished our chances inning after inning. 😓

Adding Insult to Injury

MJ Melendez homered in the top of the 7th inning, making it 5-0, and Garcia and Isbel continued the onslaught. Bobby Witt Jr. hit a three-run homer in the top of the 9th inning, extending the Royals’ lead to 10-1. Our sole run came in the bottom of the 7th inning when Nolan Jones singled, allowing Cave to score. That brief glimmer of offense wasn't enough to turn the tide. 🌊

Final Thoughts

The final score of 10-1 stings, but it's a long season and we've got more games ahead to turn it around. Let's hope the pitching and hitting get more in sync next time. Keep the faith, Rockies fans! 🌟⚾

Go Rockies! 🏔️
