Heartbreaking Loss in Detroit
Well, Dodgers Nation, this one stings
. Our boys took an early lead, but the Tigers clawed their way back to snatch the win in the bottom of the 9th. It was a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, and while we came up short, there were still some positives to take away.Fast Start for the Dodgers
The game started on a high note for us. After Shohei Ohtani lined out to center, Will Smith doubled to right. Freddie Freeman flied out, but Teoscar Hernández delivered with a double to left, bringing Smith home for the first run! Then Andy Pages singled to center, allowing Hernández to score. A throwing error by the Tigers' shortstop meant an extra run for us as Pages slid home. We were up 3-0 after the first inning!
Tigers Fight Back
Our pitching staff held it together for the first few innings, but in the 4th, the Tigers started their comeback. With Gio Urshela's sac fly and Keith scoring, they managed to put a run on the board. They chipped away again in the 6th, bringing the score to 3-2. Our bats went cold, and despite a couple of singles from Ohtani, we couldn't add on to our lead.
9th Inning Heartbreak
Entering the bottom of the 9th with a slim 3-2 lead, we needed just three outs to seal the win. Unfortunately, disaster struck. Zach McKinstry tripled, and pinch hitter Justyn-Henry Malloy singled him home to tie the game. A fielding error by RamÃrez kept the Tigers alive, and a final throwing error on a sac attempt brought Malloy home to give the Tigers the walk-off victory
.Looking for Redemption
It's a tough pill to swallow, but the season is long, and there's plenty of time for redemption. We need our bats to stay hot, and our bullpen to lock it down in these close situations. Time to regroup and focus on the next game. Go Blue!
