Tough Night at Dodgers' Turf
Fellow Brewers fans, it was a tough outing tonight as our boys squared off against the Los Angeles Dodgers and fell short, 3-1. We definitely had our moments, but unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize enough to outscore the opposition.
Strong Start but Missed Opportunities
The game kicked off with some promise. William Contreras showed patience at the plate with a walk in the first inning, and Christian Yelich backed him up with a superb infield single. Unfortunately, this brief spark ended as Andrew Vaughn grounded into a fielder's choice. In the second inning, Caleb Durbin tripled and Jake Bauers brought him home to level the game. Bauers then showcased his quick feet by advancing to third after a pickoff error by the Dodgers' pitcher. Sadly, that momentum didn't extend, as Joey Ortiz couldn't bring Bauers home, grounding into a fielder's choice.
Brewers' Pitching Challenges
We started strong defensively, with our pitchers making the Dodgers work for every base. Robert Misiorowski, though brought in for relief early, effectively staved off further runs in the first inning. However, the sixth inning was pivotal; Will Smith set things off with a single followed by Freddie Freeman's walk. A key moment was when Tommy Edman singled, bringing Smith home to break the tie. Then, adding some salt to the wound, Freeman took advantage of a pickoff error to score another run, extending the Dodgers' lead. Ugh, errors!
Late Game Efforts and Final Thoughts
We tried to rally back, with Caleb Durbin doubling in the 7th, showcasing why he's one to watch. However, as the innings dwindled, opportunities to close the gap faded. Dodgers' pitcher, Tyler Glasnow, and their relief crew made it tough for us tonight. It's never easy watching your team come up short, especially when there were opportunities waiting to be seized.Brewers fans, while we may not have come out on top today, let's keep our chins up!
