A Strong Start, but a Tough Finish for the Twins

Hey Twins fans, it was a tough game for us today against the Boston Red Sox. We started strong, but the game took a frustrating turn in the later innings. Let's break down the action. ⚾

First Few Innings: A Pitcher's Duel

The first few innings were a pitcher's duel with both teams unable to put any runs on the board. Byron Buxton, Trevor Larnach, and Carlos Correa were retired in the 1st inning. Our defense kept the Red Sox scoreless through four innings, thanks to solid pitching and fielding.

Breaking the Ice in the 5th Inning

We finally got on the board in the 5th inning! Christian Vázquez singled to left, followed by a single from Byron Buxton that brought home Kyle Farmer. Trevor Larnach continued the momentum with a single to right, scoring Vázquez and putting us up 2-0! 🥳

Fifth Inning Collapse

Unfortunately, our lead didn't last long. The Red Sox responded in the bottom of the 5th with a three-run homer by Romy González that turned the tables, bringing the score to 3-2 in favor of Boston. Our pitcher got into trouble, and the Red Sox took advantage.

Massive Sixth Inning Trouble

The bottom of the 6th inning was where the game slipped away. Boston scored six runs, taking the lead to 9-2. We struggled both on the mound and in the field, and the Red Sox capitalized on every opportunity they were given. 😬

A Glimmer of Hope in the 8th Inning

In the 8th inning, Trevor Larnach and Matt Wallner singled, and Royce Lewis followed with a single to load the bases. Willi Castro walked, bringing in a run and making it 9-3. However, Carlos Santana flied out to center, ending the chance for a big inning.

Closing It Out

We couldn't mount a rally in the 9th inning, as both Kyle Farmer and Christian Vázquez were retired quickly. Byron Buxton grounded out to shortstop to end the game with a final score of 9-3 in favor of the Red Sox. 😓

It's a tough loss, but there were some positives to take away. Our early offensive bursts showed promise, and we had moments of solid defense. Let's hope we can bounce back in the next game! Go Twins! 🔵⚪🔴
