Tough Night at Camden Yards

Well, fellow O's fans, it was a rough one last night as our beloved Baltimore Orioles fell to the New York Yankees, 6-1. The game started off on a rocky note and, unfortunately, we just couldn't find our groove. Let's break it down.

A Brutal First Inning

The first inning set the tone for the night. After Alex Verdugo singled, Juan Soto's fielder's choice seemed like a good break. But a wild pitch moved runners into scoring positions and Gleyber Torres drove in the first run. The real damage came with Austin Wells' three-run homer, putting us in a 0-4 hole right out of the gate. 😟

Scoring Drought Continues

Our bats were mostly silent through the second and third innings. Ryan Mountcastle, Colton Cowser, and Austin Hays all struck out swinging in the second. The third inning saw us getting some baserunners but Adley Rutschman and Anthony Santander couldn't capitalize.

Finally On the Board

Our only run came in the 4th inning when Ryan O'Hearn tripled and was brought home by Mountcastle. It felt like we were finally gaining some momentum, but subsequent singles by Cowser and Hays were left stranded. 😬

Yankees Pour It On

The Yankees extended their lead with solo shots by Soto and Aaron Judge in the top of the 5th. Say what you will about the Bombers, their sluggers sure know how to connect. This made it Yankees 6, Orioles 1, and it stayed that way through the rest of the game.

Missed Opportunities

Though we had some bright spots—like O'Hearn making contact and Cowser's solid performance—the missed chances were glaring. The bottom of the 8th saw Rutschman leading off with a single only for us to squander it with a double play right after.

Let's hope our bats come alive in the next game. Chin up, Birds fans! Tomorrow is another day. Go O's! 🧡🖤
