A Tough Day at Wrigley Field

Hey A's fans, it wasn't the best day for us as we faced the Cubs at Wrigley Field. The game ended with a final score of 2-9, with the Cubs taking the win. Let's break down what happened.

Great Start But No Finish in the First

We started strong with Jacob Wilson tripling to right. Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize on it. Brent Rooker struck out swinging, JJ Bleday walked, but Shea Langeliers lined out and Zack Gelof grounded into a fielder's choice. 😞

Cubs Take Lead Early

In the bottom of the first, the Cubs came out swinging. Seiya Suzuki and Cody Bellinger both singled, followed by Isaac Paredes driving Suzuki home. 0-1 Cubs. Their momentum continued with more hits in the second, including a 362-foot homer by Dansby Swanson, boosting their lead to 6-0.

Our Comeback Effort

Top of the third, Brent Rooker gave us hope with a two-run homer to right center. Jacob Wilson scored! 6-2, still a fighting chance for us. ⚾💪

Cubs Continue to Dominate

Cubs quickly responded and added two more runs in their half of the third inning, extending their lead to 8-2. They scored again in the bottom of the fourth with Isaac Paredes driving in Cody Bellinger.

Missed Opportunities and Closing Innings

In the fifth inning, Brent Rooker singled but we couldn't make more out of it. Our defense held the Cubs from further scoring, but despite a couple of hits from Tyler Soderstrom, Max Schuemann, and Jacob Wilson, we couldn't bring in any more runs.

Final Thoughts

Not the outcome we wanted, but there were some moments of brilliance from Brent Rooker and Jacob Wilson. We'll take the positives and move forward. Keep the faith, A's fans. Let's get them next time! 🌟🔰 #SwinginA's
