Tough Night for the Phillies 😞

The Philadelphia Phillies fell to the Milwaukee Brewers with a final score of 2-6. It was a game filled with missed opportunities and strong pitching from the Brewers, but let's break down what happened.

Early Inning Woes

We started strong with a single from Bryce Harper in the first inning, but the rest of our batters couldn't capitalize. Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, and Nick Castellanos all struck out in the opening frame. On the flip side, our pitching held its own initially, with scoreless innings in the first and second.

Things began to unravel a bit in the third inning. After Jackson Chourio walked and Blake Perkins singled, William Contreras doubled, bringing both runners home. Suddenly, we were trailing 0-2.

Mid-Game Struggles

The fourth inning saw the Brewers extend their lead. Rhys Hoskins walked, followed by a double from Sal Frelick. A sacrifice fly from Joey Ortiz brought in another run. At the end of four, it was 0-3.

We got a glimmer of hope in the fifth when Brandon Marsh homered to left-center, putting us on the board. Unfortunately, that was quickly overshadowed by the Brewers adding two more runs in the sixth, thanks to an RBI triple by Joey Ortiz and an RBI single by Brice Turang, making it 1-5.

Struggling to Rally 😓

In the seventh inning, we managed to get another run. Bryson Stott singled, and J.T. Realmuto was hit by a pitch. Kyle Schwarber singled to left, bringing Stott home. But another missed opportunity arose when Trea Turner flied out, leaving runners stranded. Brewers led 5-2.

Finally, in the eighth and ninth innings, our batters tried to rally. Nick Castellanos singled in the eighth but was erased by a double play. In the ninth, Brandon Marsh doubled, but Kody Clemens flied out, ending the game at 2-6.

Look Ahead

It was a tough game, but remember, it’s a long season! We’ve got a chance to turn things around in the next matchup. Go Phillies! 🔔⚾
