Mariners Start Slow but Finish Strong! Mariners Win 6-5 in Extra Innings

Hey Mariners fans! What a roller-coaster of a game! 🎢 We pulled off a spectacular win against the Phillies, taking the game 6-5 in extra innings. Let's dive into the highlights!

Early Struggles

The first few innings weren’t kind to us. The Phillies managed to score in the top of the first inning after a Kyle Schwarber single and a Trea Turner double. Alec Bohm grounded out but brought in the first run of the game. We had a chance in the bottom of the 1st with Randy Arozarena doubling to right, but we just couldn’t capitalize.

Tough 5th Inning

The top of the 5th was particularly rough. Austin Hays singled and Schwarber walked, and things got worse from there. Turner’s infield single loaded the bases. Alec Bohm then delivered a two-run single, followed by Brandon Marsh driving in two more runs, giving the Phillies a 5-0 lead. Ouch! 😖 However, Mitch Haniger gave us some hope with a solo homer in the bottom of the 5th, making it 5-1.

The 6th Inning Magic

Bottom of the 6th, our bats finally came alive! Randy Arozarena doubled, and Justin Turner was hit by a pitch. Jorge Polanco singled to bring in Arozarena, cutting the lead to 5-2. Mitch Haniger walked before Luke Raley came in clutch with a two-run double, making it 5-4! 😲 Josh Rojas then reached on an infield single, which allowed Haniger to score and tied the game at 5-5. Incredible!

Extra Innings Drama

The game stayed tied until the 10th. Matt Brash kept his cool on the mound, striking out J.T. Realmuto and Nick Castellanos before getting Bryson Stott to fly out. In the bottom of the 10th, Cal Raleigh was walked intentionally, and Randy Arozarena reached on a hit-by-pitch to load the bases. Then Mitch Haniger walked, bringing in the winning run! Arozarena scored, and Mariners fans erupted in celebration! 🎉🙌

Final Thoughts

Our Mariners showed some real grit and determination, battling back from a 5-0 deficit to snatch the victory. Big shoutout to Mitch Haniger for his solo homer and game-winning walk. Luke Raley and Josh Rojas also made critical plays that fueled our comeback. Let's carry this momentum forward!

Go Mariners! 🚢⚾
