A Tough Battle in Houston

Hey Mariners fans, we had a nail-biter against the Astros but sadly fell short in a 4-3 defeat. Let's walk through the game and see how it all played out. ⚾

Strong Start by Bregman and Polanco's Answer

The game kicked off with us holding steady in the first inning, but then Alex Bregman blasted a homer to center to put the Astros up 1-0. Not to be outdone, Jorge Polanco came right back in the top of the second with a solo shot of his own, leveling the score 1-1. Our bats were alive, and there was hope in the air! 😤

Building Momentum in the 3rd

The top of the third was where we really showed our potential. Julio Rodríguez and Cal Raleigh both singled, and then Randy Arozarena doubled to right, bringing in Rodríguez. Polanco kept the pressure on with another key single, allowing Raleigh to score and making it 3-1 Mariners. Things were looking good for us!

Astros Power Back with Homers

But the Astros weren't backing down. Kyle Tucker homered to right in the fourth, cutting our lead to 3-2. Then in the fifth inning, Jason Heyward hit a two-run bomb, propelling the Astros into a 4-3 lead. Talk about a game of long balls! 😩

Late Innings Drama

We had our chances, especially in the sixth when Turner and Polanco both got on base with no outs, but we just couldn’t bring them home. Our last real hopeful moment came in the eighth when Polanco singled again, and Rivas moved to third on a wild pitch but unfortunately, Mitch Garver and J.P. Crawford couldn’t convert.

Ninth Inning and Falling Short

Heading into the ninth, needing a run to tie, Luis Urias pinch-hit for Rojas but could only muster a line-out to center. Victor Robles and Rodríguez both struck out swinging to end the game. It was a tough loss, but the team fought hard. We’ll get them next time, Mariners fans! 🏅

Final Thoughts

Despite the loss, there were positives to take away, with strong performances from Jorge Polanco and Cal Raleigh. We showed resilience and will surely bounce back! Stay faithful and keep cheering for our Mariners. On to the next one! 💙🦑
