Tough Loss for the Cardinals as Mariners Prevail 6-1 🥺

Hey Cardinals Nation! Last night's game against the Mariners was a tough one. We just couldn’t seem to get any momentum going offensively, and despite some promising moments, we fell 6-1.

Mariners Take Early Lead and Extend

The game started off as a pitching duel, but things took a turn in the 5th inning. After a close first four innings, the Mariners drew first blood when Victor Robles scored thanks to a sacrifice fly by Randy Arozarena. Moving forward, Dylan Moore’s two-run homer really set us back in the 6th inning, extending their lead to 3-0.

Silver Lining - Walker's Homer! ⚾💥

There’s always a silver lining, right? Jordan Walker had a fantastic moment in the 7th inning with a massive 405-foot home run to left field. It was a bit of a spark we desperately needed, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.

Final Blow In the 9th Inning

The 9th inning was where the Mariners sealed our fate. Mitch Haniger and Julio Rodríguez got things started, followed by a two-run double from Cal Raleigh. Another run by Luke Raley pretty much put the game out of reach. The bullpen couldn't quite hold them down, and their late-game insurance runs really hurt us.

Offensive Struggles 😤

Our lineup struggled to get anything going against Mariners' pitching. Paul Goldschmidt struck out twice, and we had opportunities with runners on base but couldn’t capitalize. Lars Nootbaar had a good eye with a couple of walks, but our bats just couldn't find the clutch hits.

Heads up, Cardinals fam! There are plenty of games left to play, and we’ll bounce back from this. Let's keep the faith and cheer our boys on to better performances ahead! On to the next one! 💪✨

Go Cardinals! ❤️⚾
