A Rough Start for the Cards 😖

The Cardinals had a tough time in the first inning, immediately falling behind 5-0. Julio Rodriguez doubled to left and then Cal Raleigh brought him home with a single to center. Randy Arozarena followed up with another single, sending Raleigh to third. The big blow came from Luke Raley's double to center, which drove in both Raleigh and Arozarena, pushing the score to 3-0. Justin Turner then singled, and after some uncharacteristic defensive errors, Mitch Garver singled to left, scoring two more runs. Things were looking bleak right from the start.

Cardinals Strike Back 🙌

Down seven runs by the bottom of the second, the Cards needed to rally. Nolan Arenado singled to left, and after Ivan Herrera doubled, both were driven in by Jose Fermin's single to center! 💪 This brought the score to 7-2 and gave fans a glimmer of hope. Let's go, Cards!

Pitching Settles Down 🎯

After a rocky beginning, the Cardinals' pitching finally found some stability. Steven Matz relieved Miles Mikolas and got three quick outs in the third inning. With a spark of hope ignited, it looked like our boys might just claw their way back into the game.

The Offense Stalls ⚠️

Unfortunately, the Cards couldn't seem to keep the momentum going at the plate. Despite a strong effort, several key players, including Masyn Winn and Lars Nootbaar, were unable to capitalize on hitting opportunities. There were a few scattered hits here and there, but overall, the clutch hitting just wasn't there tonight.

Late Surge Not Enough 🚀

In the bottom of the eighth, Matt Carpenter hit a ground-rule double, and Jordan Walker finally gave us something to cheer about with a double to left, scoring both Carpenter and Herrera. However, it wasn't enough to mount a full comeback as we went into the 9th inning down 10-4.

A Disappointing Finish 😢

The Cards couldn't get anything going in the bottom of the 9th. Michael Siani struck out swinging, and Victor Scott II, who pinch-hit for Winn, also struck out. Alec Burleson flied out to right to end the game. Final score: Mariners 10, Cardinals 4.

Final Thoughts 💬

A rough game for the Redbirds, with bullpen struggles and missed opportunities at the plate. We saw some flashes of brilliance, especially from the likes of Jose Fermin and Jordan Walker, but we'll need a complete team effort to bounce back. Let's keep the faith and look forward to the next game! Go Cards! 🚩⚾
