A Strong Start for the Cardinals
Boy, what a game, Cardinals fans! From the very start, we saw some incredible gameplay from our beloved St. Louis squad. In the bottom of the 1st inning, Masyn Winn set the tone with a double to left field. Following that, Willson Contreras drove Winn home with a solid single to right, putting us on the board first. Nolan Arenado also contributed with another single, but we couldn't capitalize further as Lars Nootbaar struck out. Nevertheless, we ended the inning leading 1-0.
️Building Momentum
The top of the 2nd inning saw Jose Siri and Jose Caballero striking out, while Curtis Mead grounded out to first, keeping our opponents at bay. In the bottom half, Nolan Gorman was unfortunately out by a fielder's choice, and we couldn't push for more runs as Masyn Winn flied out to center. The score stood at 1-0 in favor of us.However, the bottom of the 3rd inning was a game-changer. Alec Burleson singled to right, followed by another hit from Willson Contreras. Errors by the Rays helped us load up, and Nolan Arenado hammered a double to left, driving in both Burleson and Contreras. The scoreboard lit up 3-1, Cardinals!
Securing the Lead
What an exciting 4th inning it was! Masyn Winn reached on an infield single, and Alec Burleson came through with another double, allowing Winn and Nolan Gorman to score. This brought the score to a comfortable 5-1.
The top of the 5th was a breeze, with Matthew Liberatore getting three easy outs. Closing It Out
Despite giving away one more run in the 6th inning, the bullpen managed to hold the fort. Junior Fernandez, Giovanny Gallegos, and Ryan Helsley kept the Rays at bay, preventing any more damage. Helsley struck out the final two batters in the top of the 9th, securing a 5-2 victory for the Cardinals!
A Day to Remember
Major shoutouts to Nolan Arenado and Alec Burleson for their clutch performances. Contreras also had a great day, contributing to the scoreboard and showing why he's vital to our lineup.
