Heartbreaker in Extra Innings: Mariners Lose 5-4 to the Blue Jays

It was a rollercoaster game for our Seattle Mariners as they faced off against the Toronto Blue Jays, ultimately falling short in a thrilling 5-4 extra-inning battle. From dramatic home runs to tense pitching duels, this game had it all.

Robles Kicks It Off Early

Victor Robles started the excitement with a massive 424-foot homer to left in the bottom of the 3rd inning, giving us an early lead. We were riding high, but little did we know the drama that lay ahead.

Garver’s Big Blast!

After Toronto tied the game in the 4th inning, Mitch Garver answered back in the 5th with a monstrous 407-foot three-run homer to left-center, bringing Dominic Canzone and Victor Robles home. Mariners up 4-1! 🔥

Springer Spoils the Fun

The Blue Jays bounced back in the 7th inning, with George Springer hitting a clutch three-run homer to level the game at 4-4. It was nail-biting stuff as Ryan Stanek couldn’t contain the surge by the Jays.

Missed Opportunity in the 9th

We had a golden chance in the 9th inning! Cal Raleigh singled, and Luke Raley followed with a ground-rule double, putting runners at second and third with only one out! Unfortunately, Ty France struck out, and Josh Rojas was intentionally walked before Jorge Polanco fouled out. Just heart-wrenching! 😩

The Decisive 10th Inning

The 10th started with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on second base due to the extra-inning rule. Although Bo Bichette and Justin Turner couldn't bring him in, Daulton Varsho singled to right, scoring Guerrero Jr. for what would be the winning run. It's always tough to lose, especially like this.

Final Push Comes Up Short

Dylan Moore gave us hope with an infield single in the bottom of the 10th and a stolen base to boot. But despite Garver drawing a walk and some tense moments, Cal Raleigh couldn't drive in the tying run, flying out to center to end the game. What a tough way to lose. 💔

It was a night filled with excitement and close calls, and while we came up short, we've got to keep our heads up. There's always the next game. Go Mariners! 💙⚾
