Tough Start for the Sox

Well, it was a rough one at Fenway tonight, folks. The game started with the Diamondbacks quickly putting two runs on the board in the top of the 1st inning. A single by Corbin Carroll and a walk to Josh Bell pushed runs across, with one on a sacrifice fly by Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 😞

In the bottom of the 1st, our Jarren Duran gave us hope with a double to left, soon driven in by Wilyer Abreu's double. It looked like we were about to start a rally, but alas, the inning ended with Triston Casas, Rafael Devers, and Rob Refsnyder all failing to advance the runner further. At least we got one back! 😊

Middle Innings Stalemate

The 2nd through 5th innings were a stalemate, with both teams struggling to push runs across. Our pitching held the Diamondbacks scoreless, with some good defense and few strikeouts. But our offense couldn't capitalize, with Masataka Yoshida, Danny Jansen, and David Hamilton all going down in order multiple times. 😓

6th Inning Meltdown

Oh boy, the top of the 6th was where it all unraveled. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. walked and advanced on a fielding error by our pitcher Brayan Bello, followed by Eugenio Suárez and Luis Guillorme pounding in runs. By the end of it, 4 runs had crossed the plate, putting us in a 5-1 hole. Refsnyder gave us some life with a solo homer in the bottom of the inning, but it was a small dent in that deficit. 😟

Diamondbacks Pour It On

The 7th inning was the nail in the coffin. Eugenio Suárez hit a brutal grand slam after Joc Pederson was hit by a pitch, essentially sealing the game. Our relievers couldn't stop the bleeding, and we went into the bottom of the 7th trailing 9-2.

Late Innings and Final Efforts

The Diamondbacks continued to pile on in the top of the 9th, with a few more scoring plays from Guillorme and Perdomo, extending the gap to 12-2. It was a tough watch as our offense remained silent, despite a valiant effort from pinch hitter Mickey Gasper who drew a walk in the bottom of the 9th.

Ultimately, this game was a tough one to swallow. Our boys just couldn't get the momentum rolling after the 1st inning. We'll look ahead to the next game, hoping to see more firepower and tighter pitching. Hang in there, Red Sox Nation! 🔴⚪
