Dominant Pitching and Early Runs Secure the Win!
What a fantastic day to be an Arizona Diamondbacks fan! Our boys clinched a 5-2 victory against the Chicago Cubs, and it all started with a bang early on in the game.
Big Third Inning for the D-backs
The top of the 3rd inning was pivotal for us. Geraldo Perdomo singled to center, followed by Alek Thomas reaching on a fielder's choice. Ketel Marte then singled, moving Thomas to second. Gabriel Moreno kept the momentum going with a single to center, driving in Thomas for the first run. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Christian Walker followed with singles of their own, allowing Marte and Moreno to score. By the end of it, we were up 3-0!
Adding to the Lead
The team didn’t let up. In the top of the 5th, Gabriel Moreno led things off with a double and soon scored thanks to another hit by Randal Grichuk. Corbin Carroll brought in Lourdes Gurriel Jr. with a beautiful sacrifice fly, giving us a solid 5-0 lead.
Pitching Shuts Down the Cubs
Our pitchers were on fire! They kept the Cubs scoreless through the first five innings. By the time the Cubs managed to score in the 6th and 8th innings, thanks primarily to Christopher Morel's single and a sacrifice fly from Ian Happ, it wasn’t enough to catch up.
Closing It Out!
Paul Sewald came in for the save in the 9th inning and sealed the deal. After a little scare with singles from Miguel Amaya and Nico Hoerner, Sewald struck out Michael Busch and Seiya Suzuki to end the game.
Final Thoughts
This win was a testament to solid teamwork, timely hitting, and excellent pitching. Shoutout to Gabriel Moreno, Ketel Marte, and Christian Walker for their standout performances. Let's keep this momentum going, Diamondbacks fans!
