A Rough Start
Well, it wasn’t looking good early on for us Pirates fans. The top of the 1st inning was brutal. Corbin Carroll started things off with a triple and scored on a throwing error by our shortstop Oneil Cruz. Then, the Diamondbacks unleashed a home-run barrage. Back-to-back dingers from Ketel Marte, Joc Pederson, and Josh Bell quickly put us in a 0-4 hole. Another run came across due to a wild pitch and a fielder’s choice. Right from the get-go, we were down 0-5.Finding Our Footing
Our Bucs started to find some rhythm in the 4th inning. After a rough start, we finally got on the board when Oneil Cruz scored from a Joey Bart single. Things started to heat up further in the 5th inning. Andrew McCutchen doubled and Bryan Reynolds brought him home with another double. Then, Cruz continued his solid night with an RBI single, bringing us closer at 3-5.A Comeback for the Ages
The 6th inning was a thrill! We managed to even the score thanks to McCutchen and Reynolds again. Cruz stepped up and brought Reynolds home, and suddenly we had the lead! 7-6! Our bats came alive with key hits and walks, and it was electric. ️Back and Forth Battle
But it wasn't over. Josh Bell homered in the 7th to tie it up at 7-7. The game continued to swing back and forth, and we found ourselves down 8-7 in the 8th inning after Geraldo Perdomo brought in a run for the Diamondbacks. Ketel Marte added another in the 9th to make it 9-7.Down to the Wire
The bottom of the 9th was tense. Cruz kept hope alive with a single and later scored on a Rowdy Tellez single, making it 9-8. Sadly, we couldn't complete the comeback. Joey Bart and Ke’Bryan Hayes couldn’t bring in Alika Williams, and we ended the night just short.Tough loss, but there were some promising moments! Let's go, Bucs!
