Top of the First: Early Diamondbacks Lead

What a start for our D-backs! 😃 Corbin Carroll got things rolling by reaching first on a throwing error. Jake McCarthy followed with a single, putting Carroll in scoring position. Then, Joc Pederson singled to drive Carroll home. Josh Bell grounded into a double play, but McCarthy advanced to third. No worries, though! Lourdes Gurriel Jr. delivered an RBI single, and we were off to a 2-0 lead.

Stellar Pitching Holds Rays Early

Our pitchers were rock solid in the first few innings! Díaz, B. Lowe, and Morel couldn’t get anything going in the first inning. Again in the second, only Junior Caminero reached base with a single, but Dylan Carlson and Ben Rortvedt went down quickly. The Rays had nothing on us early on! 💪

Quiet Middle Innings

Both teams had a few defensive highlights but not much action on the scoreboard from innings 2 through 4. A couple of singles by our guys like Lourdes Gurriel Jr. couldn’t advance into scoring plays. On the other side, our pitchers kept the Rays mostly silent, except for the occasional single. These were some nail-biting innings! 😬

Carlson's Homer

In the bottom of the 5th, Dylan Carlson hit a solo homer, giving the Rays a glimmer of hope. But with a score of 2-1, nothing felt out of reach. We had a slight hiccup but were still in the lead and defending well. ⚾

Eighth Inning Turbulence

The bottom of the 8th was rough. After a couple of hits, J. Lowe delivered a two-run single, and a few mistakes allowed the Rays to take a 4-2 lead. After another single from Carlson, the Rays upped it to 4-2. Painful to watch, but we didn’t give up! 😤

Late Game Spark by Carroll

Top of the 9th, Eugenio Suarez singles, but Geraldo Perdomo and Blaze Alexander falter. Then, Corbin Carroll hits a heroic two-run homer to tie the game at 4-4! 🏆 Extra innings seemed inevitable, and we had a shot at taking the win back.

Heartbreaking Walk-Off

In the bottom of the 9th, Brandon Lowe hit a single, and Jonny DeLuca scored on an error by center fielder Jake McCarthy. The Rays walked off with a 5-4 victory. Tough loss for our team after showing such resilience. 😓

Despite the defeat, our team showed incredible fight, and there were definitely some moments to be proud of. Until next time, keep believing D-backs fans! 💖⚾
