An Early Lead
Well, Nats fans, it looked like we might have had something cooking early on. Lane Thomas got us on the board first with a spectacular homer to left center in the 3rd inning. When you're facing a tough team like the Diamondbacks, it's great to see someone step up and deliver the first blow. ️Defensive Struggles
Unfortunately, our defensive performances weren't enough to hold back the Diamondbacks. The top of the 4th inning saw them rally hard. After a few singles and a double, Arizona managed to bring in 3 runs, flipping the script on us and setting the tone for the rest of the game.Bright Spots & Hoffnung
We did see some flashes of brilliance. Besides Thomas' homer, Jesse Winker blasted one to center in the 6th inning, a 404-footer, to give us some hope and bring the score to 2-4. Although it wasn't enough to close the gap, it was a solid reminder of what our hitters are capable of.Tough Finish
As if we didn’t already have a mountain to climb, Christian Walker of the Diamondbacks decided to add another insurance run with his 9th-inning homer. That pretty much sealed our fate. The 9th inning didn’t do us any favors either. Despite a single from Winker, we couldn't string together any hits to mount a comeback.Final Thoughts
Our bullpen had its ups and downs today. Shoutout to Floro for a solid 8th inning, striking out both Newman and Barnhart. However, we failed to capitalize on our opportunities, and our bats went quiet at critical moments. Final score: 5-2, Diamondbacks. Let's regroup and come back stronger in the next game.
