Tough Loss Against the Braves 😢

It was a challenging game for our Orioles as we faced off against the Atlanta Braves today. Despite a strong showing by some of our key players, we couldn't quite catch up, and ultimately fell to the Braves with a final score of 6-3.

Early Struggles for the Orioles

The game started off with the Braves taking an early lead. In the top of the 1st inning, Michael Harris II singled to right, followed by a double from Ozzie Albies that pushed Harris to third. Marcell Ozuna then doubled to right, allowing Albies and Harris to score, putting the Braves up 2-0. Our boys struggled to respond in the bottom half, with Gunnar Henderson managing a single and a steal, but the inning ended with no runs as Adley Rutschman, Ryan O'Hearn, and Anthony Santander couldn't bring him home.

Mid-Game Hustle but No Breakthrough

In the middle innings, it was all about missed opportunities and solid pitching by both teams. The Braves extended their lead in the 4th inning to 3-0 after Adam Duvall's single allowed Albies to score on his way to third on an error by Henderson. Our lineup couldn't get any momentum going, with strikeouts and groundouts being a common theme through the 5th inning.

Late Game Rally Comes Up Short

The 7th inning brought some life back into our game! Jordan Westburg doubled, and Cedric Mullins walked, setting the stage for a fantastic three-run homer by Kyle Stowers that brought us within one run, 4-3. However, the Braves added two more runs in the 9th inning due to an error and a wild pitch, putting the score at 6-3.

Final Push Falls Flat

In our last chance to turn things around, the bottom of the 9th saw Westburg getting hit by a pitch and Mullins singling to put runners on base. Unfortunately, Stowers flied out and Ryan Mountcastle, pinch-hitting for Jorge Mateo, grounded out to end our comeback hopes.

Looking Ahead

Despite the loss, we saw some promising plays, especially from Stowers and Westburg. We'll take these lessons and look to bounce back in our next game. Let's keep our spirits high and continue to support our team! Go O's! 🧡⚾
