Tough Loss in the Mile High City
Well, Braves fans, it was a nail-biter, but unfortunately, we couldn't eke out a win against the Rockies tonight. It was a close game in Denver, with the Rockies edging out our Atlanta Braves with a final score of 2-1. Despite the loss, there were moments where our Braves showed some promise, but ultimately, Colorado's altitude favored the hometown team.Pitching Duel
Early on, both teams' pitchers were locked in a duel. The first inning zipped by with no runs on the board, as our top of the order was quickly retired. Michael Harris II, Austin Riley, and Marcell Ozuna saw their efforts come up just short against the Rockies' defense. The bottom of the first saw our pitcher shutting down their hitters, which was a great start! But it was in the second inning where the Rockies managed to squeeze a run past us when Hunter Goodman scored on a grounded play.Bats Trying to Come Alive
Drake Baldwin showed some patience at the plate in the 3rd inning, walking and giving us hope. Nick Allen followed with a single, advancing Baldwin. Harris II managed to bring Baldwin home and tie us at one apiece, but it was all we could muster as Riley struck out swinging to end the top of the inning. In the bottom half of the third, Brenton Doyle crushed a solo home run that ultimately became the game-winner. We ended with just that one run as scoring opportunities came and went. The Rockies bullpen held us tightly from the mid-innings as our attempts to knock in any runs were snuffed out.
Closing Opportunities
By the time the 9th inning rolled around, the hope was there as Ozzie Albies kept our dreams alive with a solid single to center. With one last chance, Eli White sent a fly ball out to right but couldn't send Albies home, sealing a tough night for our Braves. With heads held high, we'll look forward to bouncing back strong in the next one. There’s no shortage of fight in our Braves, and we’ll be cheering them on every step of the way.
