What an exhilarating game it was for the Atlanta Braves as they faced off against the New York Mets! Faceoffs with the Mets are always thrilling, but our boys snatched a hard-earned victory tonight at Citi Field, edging out the Mets 4-3.
️Pitcher's Duel and Early Struggles
The start saw both teams struggling to get ahead. Our bats couldn't quite find their rhythm as Jurickson Profar grounded out while Matt Olson and Ozzie Albies struck out swinging. The Mets hit us with a scare in the bottom of the first, with Juan Soto and Brandon Nimmo putting on pressure, but our defense kept things level, thanks to a clutch double play involving our third, second, and first bases.Albies and Harris Shine
By the 3rd inning, the Mets snuck in the first score with Francisco Lindor's homer. But the Braves weren't backing down!
In the 4th, Ozzie Albies rose to the occasion with a homer of his own, bringing the game to a tie at 1-1. By the 6th, after Michael Harris II ignited our momentum with a single and steal, it was Albies again, driving in a run and giving us a temporary lead of 2-1.Late-Game Drama and a Comeback
The bottom of the 6th felt like a rollercoaster. The Mets managed to claw back with a couple of runs, taking a 3-2 lead, but we held our nerve. Things shifted dramatically as Michael Harris II delivered a crucial double in the 8th, bringing home Eli White who was pinch-running. Then, Albies came through yet again, doubling to right and scoring Harris II to seal our lead at 4-3.Closing It Out
Our bullpen stepped up in crunch time! Jesse Lee and Raisel Iglesias held the fort in the final innings, stifling any attempt by the Mets to stage a comeback. Iglesias managed to secure those critical last outs in the 9th inning, clinching an emphatic Braves victory!
