Tough Loss After a Strong Start

What an emotional rollercoaster that game was for us Orioles fans. We got off to a flying start in the top of the 1st inning with Adley Rutschman drawing a walk, and then thanks to singles by Ryan O'Hearn and Cedric Mullins, we quickly took a 2-0 lead 🎉. Seeing Mullins deliver that clutch hit to bring home both Rutschman and O'Hearn made it seem like this was going to be our day!

Diamondbacks Fight Back

But the Diamondbacks showed their resilience straight away. A few errors and a passed ball in the bottom of the 1st allowed them to claw one run back. Then Corbin Carroll's solo homer in the 3rd inning tied it up, and it was clear this was going to be a battle 😬. We had several innings where we struggled to get on base, and the Diamondbacks took the lead in the 5th inning with two runs. Josh Naylor hit a critical double, and suddenly we were trailing 4-2.

A Nail-Biting Finish

Our boys didn't give up, though. In the 7th, Cedric Mullins doubled, and despite a tricky play, managed to score thanks to an unconventional sacrifice, making it 4-3 and bringing hope back into the dugout. In the 8th, we had a golden opportunity: Jorge Mateo showcased his speed with two stolen bases, but alas, we couldn't capitalize as Ryan Mountcastle was caught in a tough rundown. The tension continued to rise until the final out when Tyler O'Neill couldn't escape a double play in the 9th inning. It was a tough loss, but this game highlighted the heart and grit our O's bring to the field every night 💪⚾. Let's regroup and get them next time, O's fans! 🌟
