What a rollercoaster of a game for us Orioles fans! Our birds flew out to Anaheim to face the Angels, and it was nothing short of a heart-pounding thriller, ending in a narrow victory for the Baltimore Orioles with a final score of 6-5. Let's dive into this epic face-off!
Henderson Shines in Early Innings
The game kicked off with both teams' pitchers keeping the score tied at 0-0 through the first two innings, setting the stage for what was to come. Our boy Gunnar Henderson was absolutely on fire early on, getting hit by a pitch in the 1st but shaking it off to homer in the 3rd, giving us the initial lead. His energy was contagious, leading us to a 2-0 score by the middle of the 5th inning!
Orioles Take Control, Angels Rally
In the 6th, the Orioles really found their groove, widening the lead to 6-0 thanks to strategic hits from Mateo, Henderson, and Rutschman. It felt like we had the game in the bag, but then the Angels started their comeback. Mike Trout and Taylor Ward hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the 6th, igniting the Angels' hope with a score of 6-3. Fast forward to the bottom of the 9th, Angels down 6-4, and my heart was racing. Kimbrel took the mound to close out the game for us, but it was anything but smooth. A throwing error by Mateo allowed the Angels to score, making it a one-run game. With the tying run on base, the pressure was unbearable. Finally, Adell gets caught stealing second to end the game, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief. Victory for the Orioles!
