Tough Loss to the Marlins
Fellow Orioles fans, it was a rough game against the Miami Marlins. The final score was 3-6, and despite our best efforts, we couldn't pull through. Let's break down what happened inning by inning.Early Innings: Tough Luck and Missed Opportunities
The game started off quietly for both teams, with no scores in the first three innings. We saw Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutschman, and Anthony Santander all flied out in the first inning. In the second inning, Ryan O'Hearn grounded out, and Heston Kjerstad struck out swinging. There were some promising moments like Colton Cowser's infield single in the third, but we just couldn’t convert those into runs.Marlins Take the Lead
In the bottom of the 4th inning, the Marlins struck first. Josh Bell homered to center. Following that, Jesus Sanchez, Otto Lopez, and Xavier Edwards kept the momentum going, pushing their score to 3-0 by the end of the inning.Orioles Rally in the 6th
Finally, some action from our end! After a string of outs and walks, Colton Cowser hit a double to right field, bringing home Santander, O'Hearn, and Kjerstad. Suddenly the score was tied 3-3, and hope was alive again!Marlins Strike Back
But it wasn't long before the Marlins retaliated. In the bottom of the 7th, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Bryan De La Cruz brought runners home, extending their lead to 6-3. Our defense just couldn’t stop them.Closing It Out
In the 8th and 9th innings, we had a couple of chances, but Marlins' pitching held strong. Austin Hays did get a walk in the 9th, but a double play by Ryan Mountcastle extinguished our final spark. Ramon Urias struck out swinging to seal the deal for the Marlins.We fought hard, but this was the Marlins' night. Let’s keep our heads up and look forward to the next game!
