Tough Loss in a Rollercoaster of a Game

What a heartbreaker, Twins fans. We had the game locked down, leading with a comfortable cushion through eight innings, only to have it slip away in an explosive ninth inning rally by the Orioles. Even with home runs flying out of Target Field—and not just by them—we couldn't hold onto our early and steady lead. 🏟️💔

Strong Start and Building the Lead

This game kicked off with a defensive fireworks show! Credit to our pitching in the opening innings for keeping the Orioles' bats quiet. By the bottom of the 3rd, we were sitting pretty at 5-0, following a stunning home run from Trevor Larnach. Byron Buxton and Royce Lewis also contributed, driving in runs and energizing the team. Throughout the game, newcomers like De Andrade and Mickey Gasper were instrumental, grinding out crucial at-bats and advancing runners to tack on more runs. 🎉👊

Ninth-Inning Nightmare

Just when it seemed like the Orioles were down for the count, they struck back fiercely in the ninth inning. Ardoin, Vavra, and Machín ignited an inspiring comeback and suddenly our lead evaporated with every agonizing pitch. The scene-stealer was Beavers who blasted a 384-foot homer, further darkening the mood. As hard as we fought, the game reached its bittersweet conclusion at a staggering 13-10 score in the Orioles' favor. It's a tough pill to swallow, but there's always the next game to show what we've got! ⚾️ Keep your heads up, Twins Territory!
