Tough Day at Target Field Turns Sour for Twins
Well, Twins fans, today's game against the Orioles was a rough one from start to finish. Despite the energy and excitement of being at Target Field, our Minnesota Twins couldn't quite find their rhythm and fell 9-2. Here's the blow-by-blow.First Inning Woes
The game started with Jackson Holliday walking and eventually scoring on a 352-foot homer by Ryan O'Hearn, putting the Orioles up 2-0 early. We hoped our guys would respond, but alas, no dice. Edouard Julien and Royce Lewis both struck out, while Brooks Lee managed a single but was left stranded.Second Inning Struggles
Things didn't get any better in the second inning. Emmanuel Rivera hit a massive 442-foot home run scoring Ramon Urías, pushing their lead to 5-0. Our bats stayed cold, with Carlos Santana flying out and Willi Castro and Ryan Jeffers managing infield singles, but then we left them stranded as well.Falling Behind Further In Third and Fourth
In the third, Rivera struck again, doubling to bring in Urías, making it 6-0. By the fourth, despite a sac fly by Ryan Mountcastle, the Orioles were up 7-0. Our guys were trying, but Lewis flied out, Santana walked, and a promising single from Castro wasn't enough.Fifth and Sixth: More of the Same
Rivera hammered another homer in the fifth inning, making it 8-0, and even though Lee and Santana tried to spark some life with a couple of singles in the sixth, a double play ended our budding hopes.Late-Inning Woes Continue
In the seventh, a wild pitch and a groundout by Rutschman added another run for Baltimore, pushing it to 9-0. Our bats stayed silent as Julien grounded out, Austin Martin struck out, and Lewis couldn’t get anything going in the eighth.Ninth Inning Consolation Runs
With the score 9-0 going into the ninth, we saw DaShawn Keirsey Jr. and Michael Helman getting a chance to play. Santana singled to left and Jeffers finally put us on the board with a 395-foot homer, bringing in Santana. But a strikeout by Kyle Farmer ended our day at 9-2.Wrapping Up
A tough loss for the Twins, but there's always another game! Let's keep our heads up and look forward to the next one. As always, go Twins!Scoreboard for Orioles @ Twins (September 28th, 2024)
