Tough Loss in the Bronx
Well, Orioles fans, it was a tough day out there for us as we couldn't get past the Yankees, losing 4-2 in New York. The boys fought hard but just couldn't find their rhythm until it was too late.
Early Innings Struggles
In the top of the 1st inning, after a promising start with Adley Rutschman and Ryan Mountcastle getting on base, we unfortunately couldn't capitalize. The Yankees took an early lead in the bottom of the 2nd when Anthony Volpe singled to bring in a run.
Middle Innings – Yankees Extend Lead
The Yankees kept the pressure on in the 3rd inning with Aaron Judge's leadoff hit-by-pitch turning into runs as they went up 3-0. By the 5th inning, they'd extended the lead to 4-0 after another run-scoring sequence which included a sac fly from DJ LeMahieu.
Late Rally Attempt
We made some efforts to come back in the 7th inning with Jorge Mateo showing his speed by walking and stealing second, but we couldn’t quite get him home. It wasn’t until the 9th inning when Anthony Santander smashed a two-run homer, scoring Gunnar Henderson, that we got on the board. By then, it was just too late.
Bright Spots and Hope for Tomorrow
There were glimmers of hope with Rutschman and Santander showing some offensive spark, and our bullpen holding strong after the initial damage. The Yankees may have gotten the best of us today, but this series isn't over yet! Let's regroup and come back stronger in the next game! ️
See you at the ballpark, Orioles fans! Let's keep supporting our team no matter what. Go O's!
