Rough Start for the Yankees
The game began on a rough note for us. Gunnar Henderson reached first with an infield single. Next, Jordan Westburg and Anthony Santander followed with singles, loading the bases. Colton Cowser's single brought in Henderson and Westburg, putting us behind 2-0 quickly. Cowser stole second and then scored on Ryan Mountcastle's single, making it 3-0 before we even got a chance to bat.
Second Inning Spark
In the bottom of the second, we finally got on the board. Giancarlo Stanton walked, and Anthony Volpe stepped up with a clutch single, sending Stanton home. At the end of the inning, we trailed 3-1.Orioles Extend Lead
The Orioles came back with a vengeance in the 4th inning. Singles from Henderson, Santander, and Cowser added four more runs. By the middle of the 4th, we were down 7-1. Another run in the 5th pushed Baltimore's lead to 8-1. Our bats needed to get hot.
Soto’s Blast in the 5th
Juan Soto gave us a glimmer of hope with a two-run homer to right-center field, bringing the score to 8-3. Aaron Judge and Austin Wells also got on base, but we couldn't capitalize further. Still, it felt like a spark!Late Rally Falls Short
Going into the 9th inning, we trailed 9-3. But the magic of the Bronx wasn't done yet! Anthony Rizzo singled, Gleyber Torres followed, and Soto brought in another run. Judge then crushed a three-run shot, tightening the score to 9-7. Unfortunately, the rally ended there, and we fell to the Orioles. The final score was 9-7.Takeaways
