Ouch, That Was Rough!

Well, fellow Orioles fans, today was a tough pill to swallow. We faced off against the San Francisco Giants, and unfortunately, they had the upper hand from start to finish. 😞 It was a disappointing 2-13 loss, but let's dive into the details of what went down at the ballpark.

A Bright Start in the First Inning

The game started with some promise as Jackson Holliday managed to work a walk. His swift steal to second put a smile on our faces, but we couldn't capitalize. Jeremiah Jackson struck out swinging, followed by Gunnar Henderson popping out to third. Ryan Mountcastle also showed patience by earning a walk, but Colton Cowser couldn't keep the momentum going, as he was caught looking.

Giants Dominate Early

The bottom of the first brought heartbreak as the Giants' Rafael Devers launched a homer to center field, drawing first blood. Our pitching managed to keep the damage to a minimum after that, as Willy Adames and Dominic Smith both struck out swinging.

Erratic Pitching & Missed Opportunities

In the subsequent innings, our bullpen struggled to find its rhythm. Costly errors and a couple of big hits allowed the Giants to build a commanding lead. We saw glimpses of hope with base hits from Luis Vázquez and Daniel Johnson. Dylan Beavers and Samuel Basallo tried their best, but the Giants' defense held firm. It was a series of unfortunate events, with fielding errors from J. Jackson and Vazquez putting additional pressure on our team.

Ninth-Inning Rally That Fell Short

There's no quitting in our O's, and we made a valiant effort to rally in the ninth. Johnson and Holliday cracked back-to-back doubles to finally put us on the scoreboard. Henderson added an RBI single, but it was too little too late. Despite a wild pitch advancing Henderson to second, our late game heroics weren't enough to claw back.

Looking Forward

Though it wasn't the result we were hoping for, let's remember this is just one game out of many. We'll shake this off and hope for better performances in the upcoming matches. Let's continue to support our Orioles and anticipate some electrifying baseball around the corner. Hang in there, fam! 🧡⚾
