Tough Day at the Plate
Ah, the highs and lows of being a Seattle Mariners fan! Today's game against the Baltimore Orioles had moments that made us cheer, but unfortunately, it ended in a close 4-3 loss. Pitching is usually our strong suit, but a couple of wild pitches turned the tide early on, and the bats couldn't quite bring us back.Early Action and Missed Opportunities
In the first couple of innings, both teams struggled to score. J.P. Crawford and Jorge Polanco had their moments, with Polanco doubling in the first, but they couldn't cross the plate. A big shoutout to Rowdy Tellez and Leody Taveras who managed singles in the 2nd inning, sparking some hope. But, alas, we were tied at zero at the end of two.
The Mariners Finally Score
Cal Raleigh was the hero we needed in the 3rd, delivering a single to bring Jorge Polanco home and tie the game 1-1! Then, in the bottom of the 5th, he crushed a 337-foot home run, scoring J.P. Crawford and putting us ahead 3-1. Our spirits were high, believing in a sweet victory at T-Mobile Park!
The Orioles Respond and Seal the Deal
Sadly, the Orioles retaliated powerfully in the 6th with back-to-back home runs from Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson. We were suddenly trailing 4-3. Despite several solid efforts from Emmanuel Rivera in the top of the 9th and a final single from Miles Mastrobuoni, we were unable to get the crucial runs needed in the late innings.
We fall short today, but the season is long, and you can never count Seattle out! We'll rebound, fight on, and take the next game as a chance to shine. Go Mariners!
