Dominant First Inning Sets the Tone
What an incredible start for our Baltimore Orioles! In the top of the 1st inning, Gunnar Henderson got things rolling with a single to left, followed by a monstrous 384-foot homer from Adley Rutschman that brought Henderson home. But we didn't stop there! After an Anthony Santander line out and a Ryan O'Hearn double, Colton Cowser smashed a 420-foot homer to right center, scoring O'Hearn. By the end of the first inning, we were already up 4-0!Strong Defense Shuts Down the Rangers
Our pitching and defense were lights out today! The Rangers struggled to get anything going, highlighted by clean fielding and critical outs. Marcus Semien and Corey Seager couldn't get past our sharp infield play, and Josh Smith struck out looking in a demoralizing first inning for the Rangers. Despite a blip with a solo homer by Nathaniel Lowe in the second inning, they could only muster a single run.Mid-Inning Magic
The fireworks didn't stop in the first inning! In the top of the 5th, Anthony Santander added a 409-foot homer to right center to bring in Gunnar Henderson and extend our lead to 6-1. In the 7th inning, Santander did it again with another blast to right to bring in both Henderson and Rutschman. By this point, we were leading 9-1. Go O's!Pitching Excellence
A huge shoutout to our pitching staff for keeping the Rangers at bay. Despite Lowe's solo homer, our pitchers were nearly flawless. The Rangers couldn't get any rhythm, with Langford, García, and Smith striking out multiple times. When Akin and Smith came in for relief, they efficiently closed down any remaining hopes for the Rangers.Closing the Game in Style
Solid pitching and defense in the final innings ensured that the Rangers remained scoreless after their solo shot in the second. From Ornelas grounding out to shortstop in the 8th to Heim grounding out to first to end the 9th, our boys kept their cool and secured a convincing 9-1 victory.Final Thoughts
What a game, Orioles fans! From explosive batting to unyielding defense and precise pitching, today's game had it all. The boys put in a tremendous effort, and we came away with a dominating 9-1 win over the Rangers. Let's keep this momentum going as we continue to show everyone what we're made of!Scoreboard for Orioles @ Rangers (July 20th, 2024)
