A Tough Loss for the Orioles
Oh boy, what a rollercoaster of a game that was!
Early Struggles
The game didn't start on the best note for us, as James Wood of the Nationals homered to right center in the very first inning. Soon after, Keibert Ruiz singled, and Josh Bell followed with a two-run homer. Before we knew it, we were down 3-0. Our bats struggled to get going in the early innings, with guys like Cedric Mullins and Gunnar Henderson finding it tough to get on base. But thank goodness for Adley Rutschman who managed to get a single in the first inning! The Climb Back
Even with a rocky start, our Orioles didn't give up. In the third inning, Adley Rutschman again proved essential, singling to right and bringing Jackson Holliday home to put us on the board. We got into a groove with some great base running from Mullins in the 5th, who not only managed a single but also stole second! An Exciting Finish
By the 8th inning, things were tense but hopeful. Jordan Westburg nailed a triple to right, and thanks to a sacrifice fly from Ramon Urias, we tied the game at 3-3. You could feel the momentum shifting! Unfortunately, the Nationals managed to scrape another run at the bottom of the 8th when Nasim Nuñez (Hit by Alex Call in the lineup) scored off a sacrifice fly from Luis Garcia Jr..Despite a solid effort in the 9th, with Henderson and Ryan Mountcastle both reaching base, we couldn't quite bring them home. A tough pill to swallow, but every cloud has a silver lining, right? We saw some energy from Mountcastle and Mullins, and of course, Rutschman consistently got on base.
We're still rooting for you, Orioles! Let's get ‘em next game!
