Red Sox Fall Short Against the Reds, 5-2
Tough night for Red Sox Nation as our boys couldn't outlast the Cincinnati Reds. We started off with a strong spirit, but unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough to get the win.Early Homers Light Up the Game
The game kicked off with some fireworks
! In the bottom of the 1st inning, the Reds' Jeimer Candelario smacked a solo homer to put Cincinnati up 1-0. However, in the top of the 2nd, our guy Connor Wong answered back with a solo shot to tie the game at 1-1! Then, Jonathan India of the Reds hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd inning, putting them ahead 2-1. Not to be outdone, Jarren Duran crushed a homer to right in the top of the 3rd, evening the score at 2-2.
Reds Pull Ahead and Seal the Deal
In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Jeimer Candelario struck again, hitting his second homer of the game to give the Reds a 3-2 lead. From that point, our offense struggled to get back in the game with several strikeouts and missed opportunities.The 7th inning was particularly rough. An error by our second baseman Enmanuel Valdez allowed the Reds to extend their lead. Then, an error by pitcher Booser and another by Rafael Devers added two more runs for the Reds, making it 5-2.
Late Push Falls Short
Despite our efforts, we couldn’t rally back in the 8th and 9th innings. Jarren Duran tried to spark things with a single in the 8th, and Connor Wong singled in the 9th, but it wasn't enough as the Reds closed out the game.Fingers crossed we come back stronger next time! Let's go Red Sox!
