Red Sox Jump to Early Lead
The Red Sox set the tone early in Detroit with Jarren Duran doubling to center and eventually scoring on a groundout by Triston Casas. The Sox took the lead right from the start, 1-0.Boston Adds On
In the 3rd inning, Romy González singled, and Jarren Duran doubled to put runners in scoring positions. A sacrifice fly by Wilyer Abreu brought González home, giving us a 2-0 lead. The Tigers made a comeback in the 8th inning with a three-run homer by Kerry Carpenter closing the gap to 4-3. But Chris Slaten and company kept their cool. Kenley Jansen came in to pitch in the 9th but the Tigers managed to tie the game at 4-4.Rafaela and Duran Save the Day in Extras
In the top of the 10th, Ceddanne Rafaela homered to left center (398 feet) with Nick Sogard on base, giving us a 6-4 lead. And as if that wasn't enough, Jarren Duran followed up with a solo shot (431 feet) to extend the lead to 7-4. Abreu's double made sure we had a comfortable cushion.Wrapping It Up
Although the Tigers scored one more run in the bottom of the 10th, Chris Martin locked it down to secure the Red Sox win with a final score of 7-5. What a nail-biter!
