Early Excitement in the 1st Inning ️
The Royals certainly started off strong with a shot of excitement in the bottom of the 1st! After Michael Massey struck out swinging, Bobby Witt Jr. doubled to left, bringing some energy to the dugout. Then, Vinnie Pasquantino singled to right, allowing Witt Jr. to score and giving us an early 1-0 lead! Unfortunately, we couldn't keep the momentum, and the inning ended with a strikeout by Salvador Perez and a ground out from MJ Melendez.Red Sox Bounce Back in the 2nd Inning
The top of the 2nd inning was tough for us. After a single by Wong and an error by Massey, the Red Sox had runners on base. A ground rule double from Hamilton tied the game, and a ground out by Rafaela brought in another run, putting Boston ahead 2-1. We couldn't respond well in the bottom of the inning, leaving us behind.Solo Shot from Yoshida in the 3rd
The Sox extended their lead in the 3rd with a solo homer from Yoshida, making it 3-1. Our bats went silent in this inning, unfortunately, with all three batters being retired in order.Royals Rally in the 5th!
We had a fantastic rally in the 5th inning! After a quiet start, Massey smashed a home run to right center, narrowing the gap to 3-2. Witt Jr. then singled, and Pasquantino doubled to center, allowing Witt Jr. to cross the plate and tie the game at 3-3. Despite a promising walk from Perez, we couldn't capitalize further.Red Sox Strike Back in the 6th
The 6th inning was a heartbreaker. The Sox managed to score 3 runs, including 2 off a clutch single from Yoshida, pushing them ahead to 6-3. Our relievers couldn't hold them, and we found ourselves in a deeper hole going into the bottom of the inning.Close Call in the 8th Inning
We made a commendable comeback attempt! Pasquantino's infield single and Perez's double put runners on second and third. Next, Melendez came through with a double to right, scoring both runners and bringing the score to a close 6-5.Dairon Blanco ran for Melendez and stole third, giving us a great chance to tie the game. However, Adam Frazier flied out and Maikel Garcia struck out, leaving Blanco stranded at third.
Final Inning Disappointment
In the final inning, we brought in Paul DeJong to pinch hit, but he struck out swinging. Massey flied out to left, and Witt Jr. struck out to end the game. Despite a strong start and a promising rally in the 8th, we couldn't bridge the gap and fell to the Red Sox 6-5.Final Thoughts
