Early Lead for the Sox
We kicked off the game with a bang in the first inning! After a groundout by Jarren Duran, Abraham Toro started us off right with a single. Following that, Roman Anthony and Trevor Story each ripped singles of their own. The big hit came from Wilyer Abreu, who brought home both Toro and Anthony with a clutch single, and then Ceddanne Rafaela joined the party, bringing Story home. We took a strong 3-0 lead.
Angels Answer Back
Unfortunately, the Angels came out swinging too. The first inning quickly turned into a slugfest when Zach Neto belted a massive home run to center field. After some walks and a hit by pitch, our three-run lead disappeared, and the Angels surged ahead 5-3 by the end of the first inning. A wild start indeed!
Story's Heroics and Late-Inning Struggles
We managed to close the gap thanks to a fantastic solo home run by Trevor Story in the 6th inning, tying the game at 5-5. The game remained tense and tied until the bottom of the 8th when our relief pitching struggled to contain the Angels' offense. A combination of runs and an unfortunate throwing error allowed the Angels to rack up four more, pulling ahead 9-5. Our bats fell silent in the 9th, and that’s how the game ended. A tough loss, but we keep our heads up!
Let's regroup and come out swinging in the next one, Red Sox Nation!
