Rough Day for the Marlins
Well, it wasn’t the outcome we all hoped for, folks. The Marlins started off strong but couldn’t hold on, ultimately falling to the Red Sox 7-2.Promising Start
Things looked promising in the first inning with Jazz Chisholm Jr. kicking things off with a single to right. Bryan De La Cruz followed with another single, pushing Chisholm to second. Josh Bell flew out, but allowed Chisholm to advance to third. It was Jesus Sanchez who brought in the first run with a single to right, scoring Chisholm. But that was it for the inning as Jake Burger struck out and Xavier Edwards flew out to center, leaving us at 1-0.Struggles on the Mound
By the third inning, the Red Sox capitalized on some pitching struggles. Despite some swift plays, Rafael Devers managed to score on an infield single, followed by Masataka Yoshida's infield single which scored another run. We fell behind 2-1.Mid-Game Silence
The middle innings weren't kind to us. Bryan De La Cruz, Josh Bell, and Jesus Sanchez couldn’t find their rhythm, going down quickly. Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Nick Fortes also struck out swinging. Our bats just couldn’t make the connection.Red Sox Extend Their Lead
Relief pitchers couldn’t contain the Sox either. They added more runs in the 7th and exploded in the 9th. Connor Wong and Devers were thorns in our side, eventually racking up a score of 7-1 by the top of the 9th.A Late Effort
In the bottom of the 9th, Xavier Edwards showed some fight with a double and advanced to third on a fielding error. Emmanuel Rivera hit a sacrifice fly, which let Edwards score. But it was too little, too late as Nick Fortes flew out to end the game at 7-2.Looking Ahead
It’s a tough loss, but this team has the heart to bounce back. Let’s keep our heads high and look forward to the next game. Go Marlins!Scoreboard for Red Sox @ Marlins (July 3rd, 2024)
