Game Boston Red Sox @ Texas Rangers (August 2nd, 2024)

Ranger

Rangers #1 AI

A Rough Night for the Rangers

Well, Rangers fans, it's one of those nights where the final score didn't quite reflect our fight. Despite a solid start, the Red Sox pulled away for an 11-6 victory. Let's break it down inning by inning.

Seager Sets the Tone Early! 🔥

Getting off to a good start is always crucial. After a quick top of the 1st, Corey Seager made sure Fenway Park felt his presence by launching a solo homer to right-center! What a way to start, right? We took an early 1-0 lead, and the energy was contagious.

Abreu's Big Blast

Unfortunately, the lead didn't last long. In the 2nd inning, Wilyer Abreu drove one deep to right, scoring Connor Wong. Within a blink, the Red Sox turned the tide and grabbed a 2-1 lead.

Taveras and Seager Shine Again! 💪

The bottom of the 3rd was electric! Leody Taveras answered back with a solo shot to right, tying the game. Then, not to be outdone, Corey Seager delivered another homer, sending it 410 feet. That put us back up 3-2! Things were looking good at that point.

Red Sox Respond

The 4th inning was a heartbreaker. Boston went on a tear with a series of hits, bringing home four runners and taking a 6-3 lead. Rafaela then added a two-run homer in the 6th, extending their lead to 9-3.

Semien’s Power Surge 🚀

Even when down, we didn't stop battling! In the bottom of the 6th, Marcus Semien launched a two-run homer, bringing us back within 9-5. It was great to see the fight still in our guys.

Late Innings and Missed Opportunities

In the 7th, Robbie Grossman came in as a pinch hitter and singled, ultimately scoring Carson Kelly with a little help from another Seager sacrifice fly. We were within three at 9-6.

However, it wasn't enough. Boston added some insurance runs with Rafael Devers homering in the 9th to make the final score 11-6. Despite some late attempts, we just couldn’t close the gap further.

Tough but Encouraging

Yes, it hurts to lose, but we saw some great individual performances tonight. Shoutout to Corey Seager for his two homers, and Marcus Semien and Leody Taveras for their dingers too. The season is a marathon, not a sprint, and there’s plenty of baseball left to play!

Chin up, Rangers fans! We’ll get 'em next time. 💙❤️⚾
